We didn’t carry backpacks when I was in school, (yes I am old). I did have a book bag in Middle School which was a duffle bag with the school logo on it. But, I digress…..if I were in school today, I would absolutely demand to have this backpack by Nailhead.
Today is Barry Gibb’s birthday. This man and his brothers have brought so much joy to my life with their incredible music. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to see the Bee Gees perform live twice. Andy, Maurice, and Robin are terribly missed.
The State Fair of Texas food competition was held yesterday, and the best new fair treat award was given to………..Carrot Cake! Can’t wait to try it!

Burger King is proposing a pop-up restaurant mash-up with McDonald’s for Peace Day on September 21st. So far McDonald’s has responded with a maybe……….
Kudos to Burger King for this brilliant proposal. I hope McDonald’s chooses to get on board.

Okay, so we are going on a little family trip this weekend, and my sister in law is insistent that we are going to get in the water…….so, I bite the bullet. Not that this is an enjoyable task at any time, mid-August isn’t really the best time to shop for swimsuits if you hope to have a selection! I found one that will work. It covers as many flaws as possible without being from the early 1900’s. I didn’t find one with cupcakes on it though. I sure wish I had this cutie.
Okay, so yesterday was decidedly NOT a cupcake day, because I had jury duty!
For the first time I was actually selected to serve on the jury. I am actually glad that I was chosen……I know, I know – WHAT!?!?!? But seriously, it really was important and I feel like I contributed to one of the key tenants of what makes America ….America!
So, what I am saying here, is. It’s not that bad, and if you just dread it every time you get that summons, you shouldn’t. Go. Be attentive. Use your common sense. Make a difference.
Now…..back to my cupcakes!
The only downside to a cupcake, (if there really are any), is the wrapper. Unlike eating a cookie, you can’t eat a cupcake and leave zero evidence. Well the Brits have solved that problem.
I haven’t tried them, and don’t expect Oh My! Catery to be offering them, at least not anytime soon. They are expensive, and that’s not even factoring in the shipping cost. But I am intrigued by the idea………Hmmmmm, how about cupcakes IN a cookie cup…………I smell a project for the test kitchen!

I love this quote; while I disagree with it completely! First of all, it isn’t always easy to make a buck…..Anyone wanna buy some cupcakes? But, it IS easy to make a difference. See, making a difference doesn’t have to be a huge magnanimous gesture. It is simply doing WHAT you can even if you can’t do everything!
The next time you are asked to volunteer. Instead of saying NO because you can’t do everything that is asked, say, I can’t do all of that, but I CAN DO xxxxxx. Believe me, it WILL make a difference!
