Today is National Old Maid’s Day!  Now while we here at OMC aren’t too crazy about the name "old maid", we do find it grossly unfair that single people don’t get special celebrations and parties.  So, in honor of Old Maid’s Day throw a cupcake party for all of your single friends.  EVERYONE should get a day with cake!!!!!

                       
Aren’t these cupcake manicure sets from Cupcakes and Cartwhees great!?!  Since we eat cupcakes with our hands, it’s important that we keep our hands as pretty as…..well…..a cupcake!!

Fabulous Find – Cupcake Crayons mad from recycled crayon bits!  Aren’t these fantastic!?!  They can be found from several Etsy dealers.  Great for the little ones who don’t have those fine motor skills down just yet; or big ones, (like us here at OMC), who refuse to grow up!

This week’s fan favorite was good ol’ chocolate with chocolate – YUM!

Its National Hamburger Day!  Grab a burger and frys and really make it perfect by finnishing it all off with a cupcake!

Cupcake Cars at the Maker Faire

On Saturday, May 22nd, thousands flocked to the San Mateo Fairgrounds to help celebrate arts, crafts, engineering, and the do-it-yourself mindset.  Each spring, people come from the San Fransisco Bay area and beyond to the annual Maker Faire to see what’s new in the world of zany inventions.  More than 600 inventors and artists shared their wares this year.  Among them was Greg Solberg, maker of the completely electric, motorized “cupcake car.”

These cupcake cars (sometimes called muffin cars) were invented in 2004.  They can go as fast as 15 mph.  Each car has room for just one person, whose head sticks out the top of the cupcake.  There are currently 16 cupcake cars in existence, and they are stored in a “secret location,” in Berkeley, California.

What a joyous day!  Today is National Tap Dance Day!!!!!!!!!!!!  All of us here at OMC have special place in our hearts for tap dancing as our very own Founder and CEO (Cupcake Enthusiast Officer) began tap dancing at the age of 2 and has shuffle ball changed her way through life ever since.  So celebrate this day with us and get out there and make some noise!
